Applications for Alternative Winter Break 2009 (Louisiana, Mexico, El Salvador) will be available after the SBC meeting this Thursday until May 8 at midnight. A link to the application will be posted on our website at www.uc.edu/groups/sbc. It will also go out in an email that we encourage you to forward to people who may be interested in the opportunity who are not on our listserv.

SBC needs two more people to participate in the first Alternative Summer Break trip to Clayton, Georgia during the week between spring and summer quarters. The all inclusive cost will be about $300. The team will be working with the Fuller Center for Housing on homes for people displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Please send an email to Doug Schmaltz at drschm@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Applications for the 2008-2009 SBC Executive Board will be available on the SBC website starting April 24 and ending May 1 at midnight. Job descriptions are available under the leadership section of the website. Exec members must have previously participated in at least one SBC Alternative Break trip at the time of application.

Tutor a child, build a future! Volunteer to be an ELL (English Language Learners) Tutor for children of all ages with Cincinnati Public Schools. No experience necessary ESL (English as a Second Language) Training coming up soon! If you are interested please contact:

Clothing Drive for International Refugees! Did you know that Cincinnati is refuge for many people of all different nationalities who have fled from their home country because of war, famine, genocide, etc... Please help the University of Cincinnati and Catholic Social Services provide necessary items for them as they settle in to their new city. Please donate gently used items of clothing and shoes for men, women, and children of all ages. They are in great need of collard oxfords or polo's, trousers, and anything that can be worn for work or school etc... (Please, no over sized t-shirts, sweatshirts, or clothing with obvious holes or stains). Also any outdoor children's toys such as soccer balls, frisbees, basketballs etc...would also be appreciated.
